Whilst we were at Legoland California, Andrew and I rode “Captain Cranky’s Challenge”. While we rode it I monitored the acceleration of the ride using Roller Coaster Physics, an iPhone application that records forces using the iPhone’s accelerometer.

No wonder I thought I’d loose my lunch…

Smashed my iphone on the way to work yesterday
What to do?
Well after a couple of phone calls, the options seemed to be to send it to Apple for repair (about £200 and two weeks) or take it to an O2 shop (two weeks for quote) or pop into an Apple Store for a replacement (£200).
The problem? The nearest Apple Store is in Glasgow.
The solution? Take a day off work and head for Glasgow.
So, that is what I did. Took an early training to Glasgow, did some browsing around the shops until my Apple Genius appointment, paid my money to a very friendly and helpful Apple employee, restored everything from iTunes on my MacBook and walked out with a new, working iPhone 3G 16G. All pretty painless (except the money!).
The time on the train was well spent finishing an excellent book on the Dam Busters raid and really relaxing.
When I got back to Aberdeen, Julie and the kids accused me of being in “too good a mood” and to stop it!
