After our Downtown game this afternoon, Paul and I played three games of Mr Jack today. Remarkably I won all three.

Its is amazing how such a simple game can lead to such intense thinking and headscratching and a real sense of achivement in winning.

Just introduced Paul to Memoir ’44. We played the first three scenarios with me taking the Germans in all of them. After supper we then played three games of Mr Jack. I won two of each game.

An enjoyable afternoon of light gaming. Thing we’ll try something more serious next time….

Paul and I played another four games of Mr Jack today. Remarkably I won all four.

In both games where I was Jack, I managed to avoid detection till the last turn when Paul had a choice of two remaining suspects. AND IN BOTH GAMES HE GUESSED WRONG!

Just back from a day at Paul’s. We played Lock ‘N Load – Band of Heroes for the first time.

The first scenario was “Rebecca, can you see me?”. A night scenario on D-Day with American paratroopers trying to place Eureka homing beacons. Paul successfully placed the homing beacon on turn 6 winning the scenario.

Then we tried “The Road to Foucarville…” with Paul trying to advance down a long map to capture the village of Foucarville. My long range machine gun and mortar fire slowed up Paul’s advance but he had a long way to advance and failed to get to the village in time. My German win.

Like any new game it takes a while to figure out exactly how deadly combat it and how risky you can be with moving into contact. We’ll certainly play Lock n’ Load again soon.

We then played two games of Jack and I won both!

Paul bough Mr Jack round today to play.
We played six game and each won three.

The game is sort of a cross between Cludo and Mastermind. There are eight people on the board and one of them is Jack the Ripper. One player is Jack and has to preserve the secret of his identity whilst the other player is the detective and has to figure out who is Jack. Very simple rules, with very deep game play.
A truly excellent game. Will be buying a copy for certain.

We also played a couple of rounds of Wings of War a WWI dogfighting miniatures game. Paul’s Spad shot down my Fokker DR I in both games. The miniatures make the game OK to play, but Mr Jack was a lot more enjoyable and challenging.
