We decided to start our stay in Washington D.C. with a bus tour. We walked to Georgetown and boarded the bus, which took us to Arlington and then around The Mall, past most of the monuments. We got off at The White House, had a look at the White House Visitors Center before walking down The Mall to the Lincoln Memorial looking at various war memorials en route.

Had a great time, although Washington D.C. is very hot. Possibly too hot.

Once we’d finished the bus tour we got a taxi back to the hotel for a swim and then walked into Georgetown for dinner.

Arrived in Washington today. Flew up from MCO to Washington Dulles with TED and then used a Super Shuttle bus to get to our hotel – The Fairmont Washington D.C.

The hotel is very nice – in fact a lot nicer than I was expecting (maybe we should have stayed somewhere cheaper!). The staff are friendly and the hotel is immaculate.
